Wooden Sunglasses on the
Shark Tank Show

So what is three Brother's going to do growing up in the Family Saw Mill Business? Make some really cool wooden sunglasses that really stand out from any other frames on the Market. Taylor, Tanner and Brooks Dame from Eagle, Idaho started the Proof Eyewear business in their garage and have continued to expand this impressive Brand ever since. After two successful Kick Starter campaigns from two unrelated, but still made out of wood, product's, the Dame Brother's are coming to the Shark Tank.

Some of you may already have seen "I want Proof Sunglasses" on yet another Successful Kickstarter Project coming into the Shark Tank.
The Dame Brothers first project was for had a an initial goal of $11,500.00 to expand their line of wooden sunglasses and help with the much needed capital to keep up with manufacturing. Unlike a lot of other projects just starting out, the Dame Brothers already had sales coming in from around the world but the lack of capital was holding them back from expanding their popular Brand. They successfully completed their goal and raised over $15,000.00 when it ended in Aug. 16, 2011.

With one successful campaign under the Dame Brothers belt, they decided to try the Kickstarter route again  with another very unique wooden product they designed, the wooden wallet. The wooden wallet is about as little of a wallet that has even been made that use old bicycle tire tubes as the glue that holds it all together. WHAT? That's quite the combination, Hugh? We'll not only does it guarantee to carry everything your other wallet can carry, it is guaranteed never to lose anything you place in it while taking up a fraction of the space. Brooks Dame only needed $2,000 to get this project kick started and by the time it was over He raised over $31,000 from 768 backers on July 18, 2012.

Proof Eyewear on Shark Tank
Signature of the Proof Eye Wear
Wooden Sunglasses
The Proof Eye Wear Sunglasses come standard with the CR-39 ultraviolet polarized plastic lenses that are half the weight of glass lenses with an added layer of a scratch resistant coating. Unfortunately they do not offer prescription lenses at this time so you will need to take the wooded sunglasses to an Optometrist if this is the case. Will this cost them a few sales from the Shark Tank Effect when millions of people will see the Proof Eyewear for the first time? Probably not much but it is always a good idea to make it as convenient as possible for your customer's. I actually did learn how to use a lens cutting machine when I was very young in my Dad's Office, so I know first hand how easy it is to do and I think they maybe (O.K. they are) leaving money on the table. I worked in a Lab on the weekends when I was around 10 or so, matching and cutting lenses for prescription glasses for his patients. One time He had a custom order for this specialty frame shaped as a Large Star for this somewhat shady character. I cut the first one out and it fit like a glove while my Dad stood looking over my shoulder. He then left the room to do something else while I got started on the other lens. He returned when I was finishing getting the second lens cut and was in the process of taking it out of the machine and placing it in these very unusual frames. Only to find out, I put the blank in backwards and it was cut facing the wrong way for the frame. That was the end of my lens cutting career. But other then that, it is a simple process especially if you are cutting the same shapes for all prescriptions. It seems like a missed opportunity that would even help sell more wooden glasses in the process and maybe something for them to consider in the future. The convince factor should never be overlooked if it helps sell more product.

Proof Eye Wear Expanding To The Skateboard Market

Wooden Sunglasses on the Shark Tank Proof Eye Wear is now expanding their line of wooden sunglasses and targeting the very popular and very lucrative skateboard market. The new skateboard sunglasses are made out of 5 ply Canadian Maple skateboard decks to match their unique skateboards. It's not hard to imagine the Proof Eye Wear becoming a status symbol in amongst the Pro Skateboarders, especially if they had their own unique wooden sunglasses Branded just for them.

This clearly is a unique Brand that has a lot of potential but what about production on custom wooden frames? Do they have capacity to handle very large order's making a custom one-of-a-kind wooden products? Or are they geared up to handle the volume of orders that will start pouring in this Friday Night on the Shark Tank. They have already proven themselves in the market and now it's time to see if they can swim with the Sharks and get a deal of a lifetime.

The Sharks didn't pass them up, they were given in offer of $150,000 for 25% stake in the company and Proof turned them down

    2. No the real truth is the Sharks got greedy and wanted more than 10% as always and that is why they lost the deal! I have been following Proof Eyewear since the show and the "proof" is that they have built their success from getting in the shark tank, but getting out before the got devoured. The real sad part is that the sharks should of taken the first offer and where clouded by their greed of making money and need to learn that the real profit is not in the money you make, but in the mortality that you leave behind!

  5. glasses made out of wood? That has been around for a long time. Nice gimmick but you will feel the weight after an hour. Does not work for people who wear glasses all day long.
