Sweat Activated T-Shirts - Season 3 - Episode 308 - Update
View Sport on Shark Tank
Making sweat equity pay off may not be as easy as it seems. When Ben Wood the inventor of  ViewSport, a sweat activated product for athletes, made his way into the Shark Tank, he had no idea what the Sharks were capable of when things go wrong. Having Wood's demonstration not activate the positive message hiding in the t-shirt didn't exactly help. Ben admitted after the show that he mistakenly sprayed the wrong side of the t-shirt which explains why it didn't work as planned. The technology is built into the t-shirt and works when activated by sweating.

Wood came up with the idea while in college working out. As he calls it "motivation through perspiration". Trying to control sweat marks on your clothing proved to be no easy task
but he was determined there was a market for this technology. Once Ben had a working model he knew he was on to something BIG so he dropped out of Medical School to pursue his sweat related invention full time.

Taking View Sport to the Shark Tank

If there is one thing that is certain, it's that Ben Wood knows what he wants and seems very focused on his journey to achieving it. To some this may come across as a little argent as was the case with most of the Sharks. They liked the idea and the marketing potential for the athletic clothing Brand with a purpose but didn't seem to get a long very good with him. Wood came in asking for $500k for a 20% stake in the company valuing it at $2.5 million. He had a total of $140k in sales and 80% of that was within the last 3 months. He also holds a patent pending on this rather "out of the box thinking" new technology. His ace in the hole was the fact he already had a deal in place with the U.S. Naval Academy and also a company interested in a licensing deal for the View Sport Technology.

As good as View Sports credentials were going in, it was not good enough to get a deal on the Shark Tank Show. There seems to be a few key details that a lot of businesses going on the show, that do not get deals, have in common. Ben Wood had a few of them working against him almost immediately. The #1 theme that happens almost on every episode would have to be valuing your business way too high when your looking for an Angel Investor on National T.V. It's not so much the money they may or may not give you for a part of the company, but more in the value they will bring in the future. Just the fact that you can say you are a partner with ANY of the Sharks brings with it a tremendous value that would be hard to put a number on.

View Sport Update

Ben may of not made a deal on Shark Tank but this didn't slow down the growth in View Sport. After the airing Wood has received a lot of interest in his product from several investors and Sports Teams. The USA Hockey Team, Detroit Pistons, Iron Man Competition, The U.S. Navy, Football, Basketball and Soccer teams across the country to name just a few. He has also been featured on Fox Business, Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and numerous other outlets. Needless to say this Motivation through Perspiration is starting to pay off in a big way as his net worth continues to climb.
As Wood puts it "We’re the only people in the world offering this technology and customization services with this technology".
"We want to partner or license the technology out to people with the marketing and distribution that can really push this product to the next level”.

Sounds like he has a good plan of action and is on his way to becoming Very Successful with the View Sport Sweat Technology. Would you wear a ViewSport T-Shirt while working out? I have to admit it would make to try to sweat just a little more.

  1. I knew this would be a big success after watching the show tonight. Sometimes the "Sharks" miss it completely
