Hoodie Pillow on the Shark Tank Show
Pillow with a Hood - Season 4, Episode 415
|Rebecca Rescate on the Shark Tank Season 2|
When Rebecca first appeared on the Shark Tank Show, she was looking for a $100k investment for a 15% stake in the toilet training business. The CitiKitty will teach any cat to use the toilet instead of a kitty litter box.
You put the CityKitty seat right on the toilet seat and slowly start removing rings as the cat gets used to going in the bathroom. At that time, Rebecca was spending $4.76 to produce the CitiKitty and was retailing them for $29.99 which is a decent markup in any one's book. She had $225k in sales just last year and was on track to do $350k that year. So far (at that time) she sold $1.4 million of the Citi Kitty products with zero advertising. Kevin Harrington saw a lot of potential in this product and invested the $100k for 20% of the business. With these current sales numbers, this proved to be an excellent investment for Harrington and maybe the best one he made while on the Shark Tank.
Obviously, Rescate had to revise these sales numbers after the Shark Tank Effect took hold on this original product and sent her website into over-drive. Within a week after episode 209, Rebecca reported that she sold more than all of 2010 sales combined. What's more impressive is the fact she only had one full-time employee on hand the night the Shark Tank aired and was completely swamped when her segment was seen by millions of cat lover's. This may have cost CittiKitty a few orders that night but not in the grand scale of things to come. Rebecca would go on to sell over a million dollars worth that year, triple her original projections.
Kevin Harrington also wasted no time promoting the CitiKitty Brand by creating an "As Seen On T.V. Commercial" to go along with other famous products that he's developed under this very famous Brand. Harrington also went on The View a few months later promoting several neat inventions including the CityKitty Brand. He was bright enough to give Whoopi Goldberg one for her cat before the show, and she was successful in getting her cat to use the toilet.
What started out as a single idea to teach cats to use the toilet has now blossomed into several successful new products including flushable kitty litter, tuna treats, catnip, bonito flakes and now, even an automatic flusher that flushes when your cat goes to the bathroom. No more kitty turds when it's your turn to go. : )
Rebecca Rescate goes back to the Shark Tank with the Hoodie Pillow
Regardless of how this plays out, Shark Tank History will be made this Friday Night and give hope to other past Shark Tank Contestants, that they also might have a second chance at getting on the Shark Tank Show.
