Smuffin S'mores

Gotta Have S'more on Shark Tank

S'muffins S'mores Season 4, Episode 418
Shark Tank Season 4, episode 418
Carmen Linden
Inventor of the Smuffin
A new kind of S'mores is about to rock the Shark Tank Show. By the looks of the picture's you can't eat just one S'muffin, you gotta have S'more. I can honestly say I have never ordered any food related product online but these S'mores have me wanting to order them even as I write this. They really do look that good.

Carmen Linder is the inventor of the new Smore's and what she famously coined the Smuffin. The Smuffin has all the ingredients to make Smores around the campfire but is conveniently made in a cupcake-like presentation with a gram cracker crust. Of course Linder makes the traditional S'mores that most of us has had, but she takes it a step further and makes a variety of new desert's using  this famous recipe. How about a cookies and cream Smuffin? Or maybe you would prefer the chocolate and peanut butter S'more that's a big hit with most everyone that had tried one.

Carmen came up with this unconventional way of making S'more's not as a business but as a snack for Her family.
After experimenting with creative ways to make her new desert the best she could, Linder  realised that this could even become a successful business some day. Reading back into her blog all the way back to 2009, and after Carmen already decided to sell the S'muffins for profit, she attended the L.A. Mixer in which 3000 people were to attend. She made up 1500 S'more's which surly should be enough for a brand new treat that might get a little attention. We'll she was completely sold out within an hour and a half working all by herself. One of the lucky people that managed to get a Smuffin that night said " we are going to see you on Oprah some day"'. Carmen did not make it on the Oprah Show for the Oprah Effect to make her S'more's famous but she did manage to get on the only other T.V. Show that has an effect that challenges even Oprah, The Shark Tank Effect.

Gotta Have Smore before the Shark Tank

Can Carmen get a deal from the Sharks and make this a National Brand? Is it even feasible to make the S'muffins in large quantities to service major markets or is this more of a specialised desert? The current cost for a dozen Muffins runs $29.00 on the website, so it's hard to imagine that they will be in super markets anytime soon. They would however, sell in large quantities at special event's as outlined above and for large parties and weddings where a premium desert would really shine. On the other hand, after I try my first Smuffin, I probably Gotta Have S'more.

S'mores Update after the Shark Tank

Carmen came into the Tank asking $75k for a 25% stake in the Smores business. Kevin O'Leary says they look like a million calories. Linder replies "they are only 200 calories for each Smuffin". She has sold over $250k Smore deserts in the past 2 1/2 years just within the local L.A. Market and is on track to do $165k for the year 2012. They cost $9.94 a dozen to make and they sell for $29.99 mostly from her website. Carmen just recently got the boxes made so she can now ship the Smuffins nationally by freezing and packing in dry ice. This will cost you an additional $54.00 but they are guaranteed to be fresh. For only $84.00 you can have a dozen Smuffins delivered to your door. Now That's A bargain if you want Smore!
Carmen defends that this price point is right in line with her competitors and it's made as a high end desert. The $3 a piece seems in line but the cost to ship the Smuffins puts this product in a spot no business wants to be in when it costs more to ship then the actual product. No Deal.

I can buy Godiva chocolate for that price!

    1. They are WAY better (and more unique) than Godiva Chocolate! I tried them at an event and YUM. :)
