Shrink Wrap Gift Bags on Shark Tank
Cool Wraps Wrapping Boxes - Season 4 - Episode 419 - 3/29/2013
This sure looks like a cool invention that someone should of thought of several years ago. As a matter a fact the Cool Wraps have indeed been around for at least a dozen years but does not seem to of gained much traction for being around for so long. One thing that really baffles me about this product is the site
(I really like the domain name BTW) has changed very little over the years and still appears to be a one page website with no real information on how much the Shrink Wraps Gift Bags even cost. Jeffrey has owned the Coolwraps.com domain name going back to 1999 and has been promoting the Shrink Wrap Gift Bags online since at least 2001.
Will the Sharks get into the Shrink Wrap Gift Business?
Statistically speaking if you are going to be featured on the Shark Tank (especially if you do indeed get a Shark to invest prior to when the show airs) you will most definitely have your website completely updated and ready for massive traffic as the Shark Tank Effect takes a hold and thousands of customers will show up to support your new business.
Unfortunately the first thing I see when I go to their site is "CoolWraps - patent and trademark is for sale or available for licensing". They also have a small banner that says "As seen On ABC's Shark Tank" which is the only click able link that does not even go to the Official Shark Tanks page.
If you want more information on the CoolWraps Jeffery does have a email address and his phone number listed but no details on how much they cost or even the various sizes available. Apparently these details can only be obtained if you like the product enough to call him directly. Can you imagine a few hundred thousand people trying to call you all at the same time? How could anyone take full advantage of being on the Shark Tank with no automated process set up to handle this type of volume. In two simple words "You Can't".
Grant it by looking at the sites history that has changed very little in over a decade, it is clear that this product was not intended to be sold directly to the general public but instead Miller may have been looking for a strategic partnership for all these years. He sure made the right decision to get the publicity out there on his invention and may even find that elusive business partner from being on the Shark Tank. But as far as getting a deal with any of the Sharks, it does not look promising especially if he has had very limited sales thus far to back up his valuation. How can you have sales if your not even asking for an order and making it difficult to find out how much it even costs? Is using the Shrink Wrap Gift Bags comparable to the costs of using wrapping paper and Scotch tape? If so how much? So many questions and yet so few answers.
The good news is Jeffrey Miller still has time to take full advantage before he will be in front of millions of people that will be interested in his invention. This article is being written one week prior to the airing and who knows, they may be waiting before they bring a more informative website online. Sure you may not get that huge deal that brings in orders by the tens of thousands but that doesn't mean you can't be selling thousands of gift bags to the general public in the mean time.
I really do hope I am wrong about this one because I am the worst gift wrapper of all time. This is one product that I myself would buy if I can only find out how to even purchase it.
One thing is for sure, with so many questions on this product and the questions raised on another product that will be on the same show (The Drop Stop) it will make for a very interesting episode on the Shark Tank and one not to be missed.
