on the Shark Tank Show

Cheryl Rigdon is the inventor of the Spatty, one of the simplest, yet most useful products ever seen on the Shark Tank Show. The inspiration to develop the Spatty actually came inside of a make-up jar when she realized how much she was wasting by not getting it all to come out. A problem each and every one of us has had dealing with a number of different containers. The Spatty and The Spatty Daddy can actually pay for themselves in no time.

Spaddy and Spaddy Daddy ComboCheryl came into the Shark Tank with a great idea but she lacked the needed contacts to bring her invention to the world. She was only asking for $50,000.00 and willing to give up 40% of the new business to form a partnership with one or more of the Sharks. Rigdon gives a good presentation on the several products most people throw away because it's nearly impossible getting all of it out of the containers. She then whips out the little 3" long Spatty and the larger Spatty Daddy used.

All the Sharks start laughing hysterically because of such a simple idea to an age old problem, and then, well come on, a spatty that has a daddy? A brilliant and very easy name to instantly remember this product.

The Spatty and the Spatty Daddy sold around 15 products on EBay prior to the Shark Tank as a test to see how well they'd sell. Cheryl's been making them at home and needs the investment to get the molds and professional packaging to bring them to market. When asked how she plans to sell them, Cheryl responds that she thinks they'd sell very good on QVC with a big smile in Lori Greiner's direction. She also thinks the Spaddy would sell with Mary Kay Cosmetics and with Avon considering their vast network of associates.

As good of an idea that the spatty is, it also had a few pitfalls the Sharks instantly recognised that may pose a problem. The number one concern was how much could you charge for two miniaturized spatula's? How could the Sharks scale-up this idea and make it into a full fledged business with only two simple products? All the Sharks proceed to go out except for Lori. Her #1 concern was the price point and would it be a good fit for QVC. Even though Cheryl was very realistic in her valuation and willing to give up 40% of the invention at the beginning of negotiations, Greiner was still not able to justify investing in the Spatty or his Daddy. Daymond John did offer to help put Cheryl in contact with the right people and get her headed in the right direction which is worth it's weight in gold for someone in her position.

The Spatty after the Shark Tank Show Update:

Cheryl didn't make a deal with the Sharks, but this didn't deter her from bringing the Spatty to market. After the Shark Tank aired her website was flooded with thousands of visitors pre-ordering the Spatty and the Spatty Daddy which helped her cover the prototype's to bring this to market.

Daymond John kept his word and continues to help Cheryl in anyway he can. This might not be a big enough deal for the Sharks as an investment, but it's a perfect home business that'll continue paying dividends for many years in the future.

Just ordered, why? Because this is a solution to many problems I had with lotion, shampoo, conditioner, gel, etc.........

You buy a new bottle, turn the old one upside down over the new. Leave it for a night.

    2. I think it's a great product. Some of the lotions I have simply are too thick and they don't slide to the other end of the bottle when you flip the bottle over. Unfortunately.

I think it's a great idea and it's just one of those products you laugh at first sight and then when you use it, it makes perfect/logical sense. More power to her and I hope she can make a decent long term living from these things. I'm sure someone will come up with other uses for the thing.

Plus, as an extra added bonus, you can make fun of the product name. :-)

  2. Hi Cheryl, I thought you did a fantastic job on the shark tank. Great idea. I also want to order a spatty and it's daddy.

  3. Anonymous7:08 AM

Are all the spatty's sold out? I can't even get the site to load. I was also wondering if you can just buy them at Walmart or a store like that? Any help would be appreciated.

A pair of scissors works great for plastic tubes like hand cream or some plastic bottles if they are thin. Cut them in half and dig out the rest.

    1. If you have an expensive bottle of makeup you can't do that!

  5. Anonymous1:14 PM

Tried to place an order on her website, however, website does not work.

  6. Anonymous8:40 AM

Aren't these two things the same item? I'm surprised that one didn't know about the other...

  7. Anonymous7:49 PM

I think you did a GREAT job and to all the neg comments shame on you! 57yr old lady that Loves to see young people do well! Go Cheryl GO! And Daymond how nice of you to offer to help:)

  8. Daymond is so nice! He doesn't get a benefit, but he still helps! :D

  9. Daymon is my favorite shark. He has the most compassion. As for the spatty and it and the inventor of the item. This story made my heart sing. Maybe if the entire world had an attitude as good as Daymond, we'd all be successful in life. He obviously is not a greedy person. He deserves his great life. God bless you Daymond and Cheryl. Keep on truckin!

  10. And Daymond!!! Nice is a complete understatement, he should be called the Wonderful one lol.No disrespect to the King Mr. Wonderful😘

  11. this was a big mistake for the sharks! I work in the beauty industry and make up artists and hair stylists need this product. I can see this product being in walgreens/cvs all over the country. women want this and as of now most make up artists use q-tips which look unprofessional! this is a great invention and she will see a lot of success

  12. Can't wait to buy this product!

  13. Not to mention Q tips absorb the product so even more is wasted. Cheryl, this is only the beginning & I know you'll invent other ptofucts, too!
