Wired Waffle's on Shark Tank

Caffeine Waffles - Season 4 - Episode 405 - Update
Shark Tank Season 4, Episode 405
Roger Sullivan Wired on Waffles
Roger Sullivan has a new take on the energy business by combining an energy drink with waffles. By combining the ingredients of an energy drink with the wired waffles you solve two problems at the same time. You get the boost of energy along with something to satisfy your hunger. But then don't you still need something to drink? As with all the food products featured on the Shark Tank, it all comes down to that first impression of how good these waffles tastes.

After Roger gave what seemed like the fastest presentation in the Shark Tanks History he proceeded to hand out Wired Waffles to all the Sharks. Their impression seemed unanimous and they all looked like they needed an energy drink to help get the waffles down before they could even talk. Robert Herjevic asks" can you put anything on it too make it taste better"? Sullivan responds "you can but they are designed with the flavor already inside of them". Each wired waffle is equivalent to drinking 3 cups of coffee which you might also need to get them down.

Kevin O'Leary goes into his speech (once again) on how there is nothing proprietary about the Wired Waffles and if they start to sell he will be pushed out by the larger manufactures that will crush him. This gets Robert Herjevic and Mark Cuban almost furious because he says the same thing to everyone that might have this early start up problem before their Brand is recognized as the leader in that industry.

Season 4, episode 405 Lori Greiner asks a question that could have very real consequences when she said " how do you keep kids from buying these at convenience stores with so much caffeine added in to them"? The packaging contains a warning label and is not intended for children plus they are targeting the same market as the energy drinks are. Lori sees this as a potential liability with combining caffeine with a sweet product that kids will naturally be attracted too and proceeds to go out. In fact they all go out except for Kevin O'Leary which brings up a good point. Had Roger came into the Shark Tank with his proprietary way of adding caffeine to food products and not focused so much on just waffles, he might of been interested in investing in the Wired Waffle business.

In the end it all came down to the taste which none of the Sharks seemed to enjoy mainly because the taste was too dry. No Deal for the Wired Waffles.

Wired Waffles after the Shark Tank Update

I'm happy to report that it seems like Sullivan took the Sharks advise and has now come up with a new waffle that is moist and not nearly as hard to swallow. In fact this is the very first thing you see when you go to their site. Trying to read anything before it keeps switching to another product on the other hand, actually gave me a head ache before I finally quit trying to read. I might not be the fastest reader but every two seconds?
I did manage to click on one page before it went away that took me to the new Wired Maple Syrup which is an interesting new way to consume caffeine. It looks like Roger also took O'Learys advise and is now experimenting with other ways to get wired. Personally I think that the wired maple syrup is a much better idea that has a lot more potential in the long run. Then again, you might need some waffles to go along with the wired syrup for a real boost of energy.

I'm kind of mixed on this one mainly because there is no product that will get me to give up my morning coffee. I like the idea as an alternative to energy drinks that I'm not a real big fan of but I would still want something to drink. Then again some products you just have to try before you really make up your mind and this is one that I will need to taste before I make up my mind.

What about you? Have you tried the Wired waffle products yet?
