nPower Peg on the Shark Tank
Kinetic Energy Generator - Season 4 - Episode 422 - 4-26-2013
|Aaron LeMieux inventor of the Personal Generator|
The nPower Peg uses your energy to power devices.
LeMieux is a mechanical engineer that began dreaming of a personal energy generator during this rather long walk. He could carry everything he needed in his backpack, but he still needed to go into towns along the 1500 mile trail to stock up on batteries for all his gadgets. It took a full 10 years to turn this dream of a handheld personal generator into reality.
In 2008, LeMieux secured several patents for his kinetic energy device
and started Tremont Energy with $100,000.00 to bring the nPower Peg to the world. During this same year, Aaron also won a $55,000.00 competitive loan from Cuyahoga County. The media loved this invention, and as a result, Tremont Energy was flooded with orders the new start-up could not fulfill. Quality has always been #1 when it comes to the nPower Peg which his manufacturer could not keep up with Aaron's standards.
If there was ever a story where too much publicity for a new start-up/invention could actually have an adverse effect, this is a good one to learn a few valuable lessons. Fortunately, LeMieux never gave up during these growing pains of bringing this incredibly useful personal energy generator to the market, and now he's prepared to show the nPower Peg to over 7 million Shark Tank Fans around the world.
So how does the nPower Peg generate power to charge your gadgets from the kinetic energy we naturally produce while walking or running?
The nPower Peg is a 9-inch tube that has magnets and a lithium battery packed inside. While you're active while walking, running or just carrying the nPower Peg, it's recharging the built-in battery you can then use to power up any of your little devices. As long as you can still move, you'll never have to worry about batteries or charging up your cell phone ever again.
As with all new technical advances there comes a price. The nPower Peg retails for $199.00 which would be a bargain if you were in an emergency situation and there was no power to recharge your cell phone or tablet computer. Naturally, the more popular this invention becomes, the faster Tremont Energy can lower the price and bring this technology to the masses.
nPower Peg before the Shark Tank UpdateBy the looks of it, Aaron needs to make a deal with the Sharks if the nPower Peg is going to be a huge success. The majority of Tremont Energy's employees have been working for equity in the company rather than a paycheck that clearly shows they're devoted to the nPower Pegs Success. If the Sharks like this invention (what's not to like?) but smell financial difficulties, they might either swim away or make an offer where they control the company.
One interesting fact and actually the deal that could make the nPower Peg and it's kinetic energy a household name would be a deal with the Military that very much could use this technology. This problem came to light and exposed the problem on relying on generators to recharge communication devices in 2011. When the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan was suddenly closed the Military had no way of delivering fuel to our troops and as a result could not run the generators to recharge their radio's. It will be interesting to see if Aaron brings this up on the Shark Tank and if he has a deal already in place with the Military.
Aaron has also been working on the Wave Energy Converter that takes the energy from waves and converts it into energy to used to power your home. Lemieux claims just one buoy will continually generate enough energy to power 20 medium sized homes. This technology may still be a little expensive at this time, but it has the potential to change the world by making the cleanest known way to produce natural energy using kinetic energy that's all around and inside all of us.
The idea of using my energy to produce kinetic energy and power my cell phone sure seems like a Great Idea To Me!
