Body Walking Shark Tank Update
Tod Miller the owner of Body Walking, has taken this ancient technique and created a business good enough to make it on the Shark Tank Show. Miller is a licensed massage therapist from Phoenix, Arizona who has perfected this type of massage using a handrail that allows Him to stand directly on your pressure points and apply a lot more pressure than traditional massage allows.
How good does it feel to have someone give you a body massage with their feet? Pretty darn good I would say, in fact I used to pay my kids when they were little to do this very thing.
When Todd Miller entered the Shark Tank He was asking$100k investment for 10% equity in the Body Walking Business. Over the past 7 years, Miller has licensed a total of 30 massage therapists who he has trained in this ancient back rub technique. With 23 Iron Man triathlons already completed, Todd is clearly also an expert staying in shape and knows the benefits of a good back rub after such an event.
Barbara Corcoran volunteered to have Todd give Her a back rub with his feet during his Shark Tank appearance which almost puts her to sleep. She loved the back rub, but doesn't see anything unique about this business to invest her money especially considering the million dollar valuation.
Mark Cuban like the idea but is concerned Miller spends too much time training for Iron Man Contests which seems to be his main goal and not the Body Walking Business. Cuban likes to invest in people that are as committed as He is in building up their businesses and thinks Todd's main commitment is competitions and not the Body Walking Business.
Daymond John, Robert Herjevic and Kevin O'Leary all seem to agree there is nothing propriety about the foot massage business and cannot justify the high valuation with limited success spread over 7 year's time. O'Leary makes his now infamous statement saying "you're a dead man walking to me" which is a little rude in my opinion, but that's our Kevin and I don't think he will change anytime soon. In the end there was no offers made for the Body Walking Business.
Body Walking Shark Tank UpdateTod Miller may not of made a deal on the Shark Tank, but he is still reeling in the benefits now being associated with the very best Business Reality Show in History. Within a few months after his appearance, Miller was again on National TV featured on The Doctors which further helped his credibility as a Body Walking Expert.
So what's the main advantage getting certified as a Body Walker compared to a Licensed Massage Therapist using their hands? I think Kevin Myrick explains it best within the testimonials listed on the website. Kevin met Tod at a Health Expo in Phoenix where he was giving chair massages lasting 15-20 minutes each. At the end of a very long day Myrick was completely exhausted after 8 full hours, and yet Tod seemed like he was ready to keep going with plenty of energy. Kevin realized he could give a much better full body massage using Body Walking techniques then he could ever give using his hands that limit's his ability as his own muscles start to tire out.
The average professional lifespan for a full time massage therapist is only 7 years because of this very reason. Myrick is now a Licensed Body Walker who plans to be in this business much longer than previously expected and not sacrificing his own body in the process.
