Shark Tank Season 5 - Episode 504
Lynnae's Gourmet Pickle Business was started by Lynnae Schneller and Aly Cullinane from Tacoma, Washington. The business began in 2011 and mostly sold within the local market before getting a lot of major national attention. Lynnae and Aly so far have been featured in Oprah, Wall Street Journal, Reader's Digest, Ladies Home Journal, USA Today, CNN and now The Shark Tank Show.
With so much national attention in such a short amount of time, the order's came pouring in and sold over 36,000 jars of pickles within the past year alone. The Lynnae's Gourmet Pickle Business is becoming unsustainable at this level of growth without the needed capital to keep up with demand. This is why they have decided to go on the Shark Tank and hopefully get one of the Shark's to invest in their company.
Now here's where things start getting a little interesting and something I have never seen any Shark Tank contestant do. It's no secret several contestants have used Crowd Funding Campaign's to help launch their products. Some of the most successful products seen on the Shark Tank began as a crowdfunding project, while other's started their campaign to coincide with their appearance on the show.
Lynnae's Gourmet Pickles started a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo July 16th that just ended a month ago on August 7th, 2013. Unfortunately this campaign never really took off and was unable to complete their financial goal needed to expand this business. Obviously Lynnae and Aly tried out for the Shark Tank prior to that date, but with all the competition they were convinced they would not be featured on the Show.
Well guess what? Just a month after a disappointing crowd funding campaign, the pickle girls are going to be featured on Shark Tank Season 5's Premiere Show in front of 7+ million viewers. I hope they have been busy packaging up a bunch of the Hot Mama and Mrs. Pickle jars because they are going to need every last one of them.
They might not get a deal on the Shark Tank because of the reasons stated above, but I'm willing to bet there's a lot more people that like Gourmet Pickle's as much as I do, and this company is about to explode in a major way.
If I could give Lynnae and Aly one piece of advice it would be to get another crowdfunding campaign up and running (even if you already found an outside investor) before next Friday and before Shark Tank Season 5 begins. Some folks might not be interested in ordering pickles, but they will want to help you build your business, and a new crowd funding campaign will give them that outlet.
