Seen on the Shark Tank 1/16/2015
The entrepreneur who invented the Lumio Light, is Max Gunwan, and will be appearing in the next Shark Tank Show this Friday night, 1/16/2015. Max has an interesting story how he first entered the flexible lighting business that he went into detail during a recent TED Talk in San Francisco. Bottom line, this guy has lots of passion for creating new useful products that appeal to the masses.
Bringing the Lumio Book Lamp to the market would require a considerable investment as you might expect. Gunwan did what a lot of entrepreneurs do these days to prove the concept, and that's to start a Crowd Funding Campaign over at Kickstarter. The financial goal was set at $60,000.00 which 100% must be raised to receive any of the start up capital. The Lumio became an instant overnight success and was fully funded within the first two days. The campaign raised over $578,000.00 before it ended March 15, 2013.
Lumio Book Light Review before Shark Tank UpdateIt looks like the Lumio Book Light recently received a tremendous boost of publicity from the wealthiest of all Sharks, Mark Cuban himself. Mark did an interview for INC Magazine listing his 5 Must-Have Holiday Gifts that He personally recommended this past Christmas. One of these products is the Bon Affair Wine Spritzer's that Cuban made a deal on the Shark Tank last year. The other product is the Lumio Book Light that's soon to become the newest Shark Tank product this Friday night January 16, 2015. This doesn't necessarily mean Mark Cuban invested in Lumio, but considering He loves investing in cool new technology products, I certainly wouldn't bet against it.
