Considering up to 50% of your utility bills goes towards heating and cooling your Home, installing wireless Smart Vents can pay for themselves a lot faster than you might expect. The Keen Home Smart Vents coming to the Shark Tank connects via a "smart home hub" allowing the vents to communicate with each other and also linking them to the Internet for maximum efficiency. By replacing your current manual vents with a smart vent taking less than a minute, they automatically open and close as if they had a mind of their own controlling the entire heating and cooling system.

The inventors of the Keen Home Smart Vents are Ryan Fant, Nayeem Hussain and Will McLeod appearing tonight on this Brand New College Themed Shark Tank Episode 617. Like a lot of Shark Tank products, the first significant round of financing came in the form of a crowd funding campaign held at Indiegogo in April of 2013. The stated goal to bring the wireless smart vents to market was $40,000.00 they successfully raised, although very, very close. The name of the original product was the "Keen Vent" that's now called the "Smart Vent" made by Keen Home. Confused yet? It gets even a little more confusing on the "Brand", but I'll get to that later.

The Keen Home Smart Vents beta version was first scheduled to be released in January 2014 to the backers helping fund the technology behind this new invention. I'm not sure who was in charge of updating the progress, but they did an extremely poor job that NEEDS mentioning. There was obviously unforeseen obstacle's making vents smart enough to communicate with each other, but that's no excuse not to communicate with the people who believed and financially backed the idea in the first place. How long does it really take to update the financial investors of your progress, especially when (apparently) they still haven't received a product even to this day? Maybe, just maybe someone from Keen Home will read this and consider updating that page. I for one ALWAYS read the comments whenever I want an unbiased opinion how things have unfolded, especially if it's a new Shark Tank product.

Smart Vents Reviews before Shark Tank Appearance

According to the Keen Home website, Smart Vents are still in the pre-order phase at the time of this writing, the same day this episode of the Shark Tank airs tonight on ABC. The product reminds me a lot of the DoorBot that even with the help of a billionaire Shark Tank investor, still took much longer than expected to bring to market. It's easy to see this smart technology controlling the heating and cooling systems being implemented by the masses once this product is available in stores like Lowe's. In fact, Lowe's is already showing as a partner for the Smart Vent on the site which is an excellent thing to see.

Another significant positive before Smart Vent's become an Official Shark Tank Product tonight is the fact Keen Home is aggressively hiring new talent with impressive starting salaries and an opportunity for an equity stake in the business. The current positions available on include VP of Marketing & Sales, Hardware Engineer, Designer and a Back end Developer ranging from $65k to $120k per year, along with up to a 1% equity stake in the company. It also shows a marketing budget of $20,000.00 a month to start, so apparently the Keen Home inventions are gearing up to expand drastically in the near future. We'll have to wait until tonight to see if there's a Shark Tank Investor behind this massive expansion while still in the pre-order stage, but clearly Keen Home has received important funding prior to the Show.

My first impression was there's at least one Shark already invested in the Smart Vent technology, but considering how it's been Branded thus far, I'm not exactly sure. There's already a fully developed website, so that's out, and also a very successful Home Developer by the name of that does make the Brand Name a little confusing to say the least.

The Official Smart Vents website is branding a top level domain from the British Indian Ocean Territory. Not that I have anything against using a .IO domain name, but it's a first for a Shark Tank product and one of the very few not using a .com for their official site. There is a very good reason most Successful Shark Tank products use a .COM instead of a growing list of .whatever ultimately making it much more expensive for Online Branding in the long run. Personally I'd take the $20,000.00 monthly marketing budget and buy the best .Com domain name relevant to this product before being forced to keep paying search engines to rank on the first page for my own products keywords.

Then again, once the Smart Vents are available at Lowe's, who cares what the name is as long as it's saving you money every month on your utility bills.

The Smart Vents is running a Shark Tank Special that's always a good sign to see. For a limited time, you can pre-order the Smart Vents for a 30% discount on the total number ordered. In addition to this generous discount, Keen Home will also include a Free Smart Home Hub with all orders valued at $40.00 retail.
